What is the healthiest US state? Hub Score released its health index in 2023, which broke down which states' population was the healthiest. States were evaluated using factors like disease and mortality rates, as well as environmental conditions, and then given a score out of 100. Hawaii was the healthiest, with a score of 82.2, due to its low mortality rate and access to top-quality medical care. In second place was Massachusetts with 78, losing out on the top spot due to its harsh weather conditions. On the lower end of the list, we have Mississippi coming in last with a score of 42.6 and West Virginia coming in second to last with 43.8. These states had the highest death rates and disease instances and the poorest quality healthcare, environment, and overall citizen health.
